Winter break homework

Here is the game piece lab sheet
dealing down game card
Cut the pieces out, shuffle, and randomly draw 4 pieces. The object of the game is to create the number sentence that has the lowest possible value. You may use + - x and / in addition to ( ) and one exponents.

Play the game 5 times and record every ones number sentences and the work required to get the value (answer) for that number sentence.

Enjoy your break,

Mr. Framke

Song project lyrics

Here are the song lyrics to hey, soul sister. I picked this song because the school chorus is planning on performing it later this year. You are to rewrite the lyrics so that you have a song about scale factors. Your song shouls describe how to find and use scale factors. I will try in timorrow to upload the song, but in the meantime or in the event that I can't, you can find the song by soing a google search.

Here are the lyrics

Hey, Hey, Hey,Your lipstick stains on the front lobe of my left side brains
I knew I wouldn’t forget you and so I went and let
You blow my mind
Your sweet moon beam
The smell of you in every single dream I dream
I knew when we collided you’re the one I have decided
Who’s one of my kind
Hey soul sister ain’t that mister mister on the radio stereo
The way you move ain’t fair you know
Hey soul sister I don’t want to miss a single thing you do
Tonight
Heeey Heeeeey heeeey…
Just in time I´m so glad you have a one track mind like me
You gave my life direction
A game show love connection we can’t deny
I´m so obsessed my heart is bound to beat right
Out my untrimmed chest
I believe in you like a virgin your Madonna
And I’m always gonna want to blow your mind
Hey soul sister ain’t that mister mister on the radio stereo
The way you move aint fair you know
Hey soul sister I don’t want to miss a single thing you do
Tonight
Way you can cut a rug
Watching you’s the only drug I need
So gangster I’m so thug
You’re the only one I’m dreaming of you see
I can be myself now finally
In fact there’s nothing I can’t be
I want the world to see you be with me
Hey soul sister ain’t that mister mister on the radio stereo
The way you move aint fair you know
Hey soul sister I don’t want to miss a single thing you do
Tonight
(Repeat)
Hey, Hey, Hey, Tonight

Budapest Sub Plans

Thank you Ms. Ferrell for taking my place this week while I compete in the ITU Triathlon World Championships.

Here's how things should work, I am giving a list of work to be done in chronological order and the students should work through as much as possible. There is a benchmark on Friday that will take place in the computer room with Mrs. Hatchett. There is a paper and pencil portion of the test which should be given as a warm-up on Thursday. Each investigation has launch and summary videos which must be viewed. At some points, the videos ask you to stop them and let students work before you continue the video. Launch videos are seen before the investigation and summary videos come after all students have finished and students are given an opprutunity to present their work. Simple.

Investigation 3.2 (1 and 1/2 day)
Launch
I have already launched this investigation on Friday. In essence students are to make an equation, table, and equation for parts a to c. There are some additional questions that should be answered as well.
Summary

sub plans 3/22

It's amazing how the best laid plans can be unraveled. On Thursday our custodian ran over my microphone cord with the vacuum cleaner and it broke. As a result, I could not record what I was originally planning for the day and unfortunately you will have a more traditional substitute day. I am sorry.

1) Have a volunteer from each class check the homework.

2) On my desk there are two piles, one for 8th grade and one for seventh. Pass out check-up 2 (one per student). Students will take the quiz silently by themselves. Students have as much time to finish the quiz as they need, although I doubt it will take the whole period. Once they are done, students should turn in the quiz to the turn in slot (they know where that it)

3) After finishing the quiz, give each student the riddle work sheet that is under the quiz. Students can work in groups of two once everyone has turned in the quiz. Students should turn in the work sheets (even if they do not finish) at the end of class for grading.

x 1 3 5 7
y 4.4 3.2 2 0.8

Table 2
x 1 3 5 7
y -2.33 1 4.33 7.66

There are no videos. Rember that in math you follow the pattern. Don't just plot the four points, extend the line so that it crosses both the x and y axis. That way, you are better able to find the y-intercept. For the slope, draw the slope triangle and label the rise and run. Slope is rise over the run (a fraction). Don't convert the slope to a decimal, just substitiute the slope for m in the equation y=mx+b.

To play the videos, please unplug the microphone from the computer and turn the volume up on the board.

Once everyone finishes, have members of the mathletics team review the answers and explain problems that are requested.

3)Pass out the CSAP packet. It is due tomorrow. I have some originals that are not stapled on top. If you are having troubles reading, those should be better. Mrs. Degi's printer is needing a new cartridge desperately. I have one problem on the blog that you can view if you need to fill time.

Wednesday alert

I am a bit disappointed that there were so many issues with the csap pockets last week. I know the copies were the best, but they were definitely readable and since the all the questions are explained on the blog, there should be no problems getting them done.

So here's the deal. On Wednesday there will be an open book/notes timed test on the csap packet. Any notes you take tonight on the blog videos will be usable tomorrow.

Song change: here are the lyrics for my generation (the Who) and sweet child o' mine (Guns 'n Roses)

My generation
People try to put us d-down (Talkin' 'bout my generation)
Just because we get around (Talkin' 'bout my generation)
Things they do look awful c-c-cold (Talkin' 'bout my generation)
I hope I die before I get old (Talkin' 'bout my generation)

This is my generation
This is my generation, baby

Why don't you all f-fade away (Talkin' 'bout my generation)
And don't try to dig what we all s-s-say (Talkin' 'bout my generation)
I'm not trying to cause a big s-s-sensation (Talkin' 'bout my generation)
I'm just talkin' 'bout my g-g-g-generation (Talkin' 'bout my generation)

This is my generation
This is my generation, baby

Why don't you all f-fade away (Talkin' 'bout my generation)
And don't try to d-dig what we all s-s-say (Talkin' 'bout my generation)
I'm not trying to cause a b-big s-s-sensation (Talkin' 'bout my generation)
I'm just talkin' 'bout my g-g-generation (Talkin' 'bout my generation)

This is my generation
This is my generation, baby

People try to put us d-down (Talkin' 'bout my generation)
Just because we g-g-get around (Talkin' 'bout my generation)
Things they do look awful c-c-cold (Talkin' 'bout my generation)
Yeah, I hope I die before I get old (Talkin' 'bout my generation)

This is my generation
This is my generation, baby

Sweet Child O' Mine lyrics

She's got a smile that it seems to me
Reminds me of childhood memories
Where everything was as fresh as the bright blue sky
Now and then when I see her face
She takes me away to that special place
And if I stared too long
I'd probably break down and cry

Oh, sweet child o' mine
Oh, sweet love of mine

She's got eyes of the bluest skies
As if they thought of rain
I hate to look into those eyes
And see an ounce of pain
Her hair reminds me of a warm safe place
Where as a child I'd hide
And pray for the thunder and the rain
To quietly pass me by

Oh, sweet child o' mine
Oh, sweet love of mine

Oh, sweet child o' mine
Oh, sweet love of mine
Oh, sweet child o' mine
Oh, sweet love of mine

Where do we go
Where do we go now
Where do we go
Where do we go
Where do we go now

Where do we go
Sweet child
Where do we go now

Where do we go
Where do we go now
Where do we go
Where do we go now

Where do we go
Where do we go now
Sweet child
Sweet child o' mine
