Requirements:
Congratulations, you have chosen to do the solve a linear equation mobile project! In a nut shell this is what you are going to do. You are going to make up your own linear equation (and solve it) on a mobile that is balanced (just like your equation). your prioritise are as follows:
1) Write and solve your linear equation correctly showing each step as one piece of your mobile
2) Making your mobile balanced and able to move freely
3) Including a theme from one (or more) of your classes. Sorry, lunch and recess do not count.
4) Making your project pretty
Grading:
If your solution to your equation is wrong, the best you can get is a Partially Proficient.
Advanced:
Six levels (5 sticks / 6 papers)
Equation requires 6 steps to solve and is done correctly
Mobile is balanced and moving freely
Writing is neat and easy to read
Papers have a recognizable theme and are aesthetically pleasing
Proficent:
Five levels (4 sticks / 5 papers)
Equation requires 5 steps to solve and is done correctly

Tuesday 9/29 change
The eighth grade had a somewhat spur of the moment field trip to TJ high school which I conscripted to chapatonr since no one else would go. We were supposed get back in time for my 7 th grade class which didn't happen. The class spent the period working on the unit project. There is NO ACE due tomorrow as a result. Enjoy. We will do inv 2.3 in class tomorrow.

Investigation 4.3
Ok, this investigation is asking you to put everything in the book together. It also is trying to have a context in everyday life where you might use the distributive property. The question about writing an equation for the cost of water and trail mix is probably the most instructive for this.
Be careful when writing your equation to include tax. If tax is 4% and you multiply the cost by 0.04 do you get an answer that includes the items and the tax? If not how can you write the equation so that one equation will compute the final cost quickly and easily?
Spoiler alert! Don't look further until you try it...
If you multiply the cost of water and trail mix (1.50+2.whatever) by 1.04. The .04 is obvious, but the 1 represents the initial cost of the items.
There are a bunch of questions that I don't love like the how do the order of operations... Don't worry to much about these questions.
Today we are doing a kahoot to review he book. I will post the name of it so that you can play it on Monday and then take a photo of your results and sent it to me. Enjoy CA.
