sub plans (videos are linked)

1) Write this warm-up on the dry-erase board to the left of the Promethean board (center). Do not write on the Promethean board with dry erase makers please.
Solve:
a) 34 = 5x + 4
b) 3x = 7x - 28
c) 4(9 – x) = 48

2) After 5 minutes, have one volunteer go to the white board and explain the problem.

3) Play this video (students should watch and not worry about taking notes)
msa level 1
msa level 2 part 1
msa level 2 part 2
msa level 3
msa level 4
msa level 5
msa level 6

4) After the videos, students should rework the unit review packet.

5) Pass out the riddle packets. Students must complete the packet before class on WEDNESDAY. That is their homework and class work for Tuesday. If any kids finish, on Tuesday in class, you can give them the extra sheet for extra credit.

If I am back on Wednesday, Retakes will happen during class

Thanks,

sub plans 3/22

It's amazing how the best laid plans can be unraveled. On Thursday our custodian ran over my microphone cord with the vacuum cleaner and it broke. As a result, I could not record what I was originally planning for the day and unfortunately you will have a more traditional substitute day. I am sorry.

1) Have a volunteer from each class check the homework.

2) On my desk there are two piles, one for 8th grade and one for seventh. Pass out check-up 2 (one per student). Students will take the quiz silently by themselves. Students have as much time to finish the quiz as they need, although I doubt it will take the whole period. Once they are done, students should turn in the quiz to the turn in slot (they know where that it)

3) After finishing the quiz, give each student the riddle work sheet that is under the quiz. Students can work in groups of two once everyone has turned in the quiz. Students should turn in the work sheets (even if they do not finish) at the end of class for grading.

Homework Due Tuesday

graph and find the equation

Table 1
x 1 3 5 7
y 4.4 3.2 2 0.8

Table 2
x 1 3 5 7
y -2.33 1 4.33 7.66

There are no videos. Rember that in math you follow the pattern. Don't just plot the four points, extend the line so that it crosses both the x and y axis. That way, you are better able to find the y-intercept. For the slope, draw the slope triangle and label the rise and run. Slope is rise over the run (a fraction). Don't convert the slope to a decimal, just substitiute the slope for m in the equation y=mx+b.
